Water has also long been a favourite theme in my work. I grew up on the shores of a
mountain lake in New England, and have lived near iconic rivers ever since. In
2005 I began to look at rivers ~ and the bridges that cross them ~ as links in
time, and memory, as well as place. This led to the exploration of London's
River Thames, carrier of England's "liquid history", and the series
of bridges that cross it, standing as monuments to a peculiar British genius
for narrative engineering...
